Ive got a 1.4 16v Priveledge and am not disappointed by the performance. I also own a Kawasaki ZX6R which is so fast I dont need a quick car, but am happy with the K4J engine. It gets better with mileage if you drive it hard.
The choice as always is yours. Horses for courses.
Stick with the standard 1.4 16v and just thrash it!

cheers bob but after having seen and heard chriss 172 today i may just be going and trade her in as have no finance on her and get a nice shiny new 172 cup
