How can i stop my whole car rattling when i have music on?!!

  172
I own a dynamique clio and i must say the little speakers are ace. (as far as french things go). The sound coming out the speakers is fine. But as i am a little 18 year old boy and like my music loud, my speakers are always pumping. The speakers are fine but the rest of the car doorcards, seats, roof, spoiler, bumpers, wings, doors and all other parts of my car just rattles like hell. Is there anyway of re-enforcing the plastics or weighing them down so they dont shake as much. i have heard there is some sort of foam that you can fill in gaps to do this. the main culprit is the part of the door card where the seatbelt retracts into. has anyone sorted this or any ideas on this? or am i wasting my time?!! i understand if i bought a bm or audi then this wouldnt be a problem, but theres something about these little buggers that you just love and make you not want to sell up and get rid of them. i love my clio :)

Don't put foam behind any panel. Seriously!

Not much you can do really except double sided tape behind the panels and dynamat? It's thin plastic at the end of the day.

Dynamat worked for me, but then I also upgraded all of the speakers aswell noticeable difference if dynamatted correctly though!

Buy some Dynamat or similar sound deadening material, its not cheap so its unlikely you will cover the entire car with it, but take your speakers out and put it on the panels around them, it stops the panel reverberating as its a rubber material which absorbs the panel vibrations. The sound deadening will only work on metal panels, if its plastic thats rattling thats just down to clios being cheaply built.

dynamat! thats the one! its because i was thinking of getting a sub, but that wound just be stupid if it just makes my car rattle more. ill look into that. cheers lads.

Just stick a huge sub in there and replace the rattles with bass, that's how I cured it in my 1.2. Was amusing standing outside the car and listening to the rubstrips rattling against the quarters etc.

Dynamat won't stop rattling plastics..... There isn't really a way of doing it tbh. As said, turn it up louderso you can't hear it ;)
