How do I stop the squeaking sunroof

I have heard that this is a common problem with the sunroofs. It have localised it the plastic clip that opens the sunroof up. I can't see how I can fix it though, has anyone achieved this?

Apparently jamming a sponge in between the latch and the roof works.

Wd40 around the hinges seal and opening handle and a gentle rub down will reduce noise for 6 months as long as it's not exposed to extreme changes in temp.
