How do i unplug the seat airbags?

I need to take both by front seats out of my 172cup and was just wondering if any new how to do this with out the airbags going off.

Disconnect the battery, safest way if your unsure

Do i have to leave it for any amount of time between disconnecting the battery and disconnecting the airbag?

No, there shouldn't be any charge left. You can turn the lights on after you've disconnected it and it should dissipate any left over juice (if there is any, and if there is there's something very wrong with your car)
