how do you check for a siezed engine?

coming along the motorway yesterday at around 70mph and started to hear a scra[ing/grinding sound, to me it sounding like something rubbing on a belt, i pulled over a and as i was slowing down the car just trned off, tryed to turn it and it wouldnt turn over but you could here the starter trying its best.

opened the bonnet and there was smoke on the cam belt end off the engine, looked underneath and there was a touch of oil on teh floor, the water bottle was at minimum and the oil was also at minimum, these had been topped up earlier in the day as i just had the head gasket done.

the engine wont turn at all, the recovery guy said it sounded like a gaskett and then said it sounds like its siezed.

help?

Take the o/s/f wheel off and try to turn the flywheel manually with a ratchet / wrench. Let it cool down 1st as sometimes engines sieze when there hot - it may free off when cool depending on the damage really. If you need an engine ive loads in stock mate - will need your reg
