how do you remove gear stick from under car?

as above how easy is it to remove gear stick i hear from underneath any guides how to do it want to just modify it and white suround cheers?

there is a circlip (?) underneath that needs to be removed, (so under the car) rest is easy. Remove part of exhaust heatshield to get to the circlip

ok just remove the circlip? it suround the gear stick it obvious? then whole linkage comes out and away :S>?
