How Do You Wire Front Comps To Amp?

  Clio DCi 65
I've currently got my Front JL components running through my MTX amp,

I've got the wires running from my amp and their connected to the wires that are already in my dash that run to the front doors..The purple and green wires IIRC.

I don't think they're sounding as good as they should be considering i'm not using cheap makes!

If i was to go direct from my amp to the speakers and not connect with these wires would it give a better sound?

If soo....How to i get the wires from inside my car to the speakers in the door!?

Thanks!

You may get a bit better sound as the cables you have there atm are very very small.

I took my door card off and pulled out the rubber grommit type thing that the cables run in. Poke a long screw driver through it and tape your cable to the end of it. then just pull it through and then reattatch all the parts and make sure no water is getting into the car or into the door.:)

I also made a guide it's in the guides section, little more involved than the one above but it gives a more factory look due to no exposed wires.

I'm going to go for alex's method, need to buy some of that dynamat stuff first though, is it hard to apply..Where do i apply it to!?

Pretty expensive mate but you can get it from car audio shops and off the internet. Will make a hell of a difference:approve:
Apply it to the outer door skin, inner door skin, back of door card and lots around the speaker+ behind the speaker.:)

Car audio security ebay store is good for bulk packs of dynamat. Think it was around £100 for the bulk pack last time I looked but it does tend to fluctuate.

No mention of how, or where, the crossovers are mounted....

Did your JL components come with crossovers, or are the tweeters simply protected by a resistor???

The difference in sound quality between stock Renault speaker wiring and new heavier guage OFC would be minimal, (you wouldn't notice it), but if impedance rise is an issue, or your running big power, (100w rms per channel plus), then upgrading to heavier guage is recommended....

My front component crossovers are mounted behind the dash, then from here the tweeter & mids are wired using good quality OFC....

Here's a pic I did a while back, your amplifier should be connected to the crossover input, (marked as 'head unit' in pic)....

Hope this helps mate....

Cheers wallop,

I've fitted the tweeters into the part above the door card where you would change the angle of the mirror.

I never disconnected the original tweeters i dont think, to be honest all needs to be re-done...It's too cold to go playing around outside though!!

Guess i'm going to have to man up!

Changing the wires to the doors will make very minimal difference. Yes its better to change it but id look at the fitment and the mounting of the speakers first and also make sure the amp is setup correctly. Loads of dynamat in the doors and a decent baffle for the speaker to mount to.

Alright then, I see if i can get someone to put a little bit of wood in there for slightly extra support.
