How does the 1.4 differ from the 1.6 mk2 ph1?

  1.6 Focus, 1.6 122S
Been looking at my Haynes Manual, and it seems my engine (1.4 16v(K4J)) is pretty much the same as the 1.6 16v (K4M)

Does this mean there is an easy way of turing my car into a 1.6 16v?

Any help makes a difference!

The 1.4 and 1.6 are very similar engine the difference is the 1.6 has a taller block and a different crank and thats about all however the cost of just chnaging the blcok and crank are so much than a whole new 172 transplant would be about the same price.

ya see i thought it would be the crank aswell.. but according to Hanyes, they have the same crank!

I was thinking I might get some cheap power, but if its expensive, i'll forget it!

Doesn't 1.4 16v and 1.6 16v have the same block? I think difference is in crank and rods. hm...

  172 cup'd extreme
very similar engine bore is larger and stroke longer and crank different the 1.4 and 1.6 have only 12bhp to sepperate them so i doubt you would notice much difference
