How far on a Full Tank?

Hi there people, i currently have a 57 plate clio campus 1.5 dci 65. On average i got 700 miles on a full tank of diesel with the most being 742 miles with 85% of that being on the motorway.

I've now moved closer to work so most of my driving is now around town so on average i only get around 550 miles to a full tank. Therefore with the cost of diesel being more than petrol i'm thinking of selling my dci for a petrol, maybe even a 172/182 if the insurance isn't stupid, so i'm interested to see how far the petrol engines get on average to a full tank to see if its worth me changing.

I know a diesel will always do more miles on a full tank, but at what higher cost? to do the same amount of miles in a petrol might end up being cheaper in the long run.

Lol, on a good drive my 182 gets 290 - 300 on a full tank. And that giving it some stick a bit.

I have ragged it my whole tank this time and getting just over 200

Computer says 37mpg, but when measured it is more like 33-34.

Work is 25 mile away and as soon as i leave my place, i get up to about 70 in 5th and it dont go down the box until i arrive at work so nice and steady

I'm getting about 300 to a full tank atm, but that's mainly town driving. Done a run to Bridgend and back today, computer reckoned i was getting 51mpg?! which would work out about 500 miles!! (Doubt it!)

I'm getting just under that to half a tank and I do give my car a bit of stick now and then. You lot must be frapping these motors to within an inch of their lives to manage that :nono:

I get just over 300 miles on a steady run but usually around 250 with spirited driving thrown into the mix

Done a run from Nottingham to Cardiff & back in my m8's vee and he was getting 23-25mpg until we found some tunnels :rasp:

About 300 or so in the 172. The bottom bit of the tank seems huge and I end up filling it when it gets toward the bottom. Trip reckons it still has a significant number of miles left but I haven't tried.

what annoys me is when the light comes on it won't tell you how many miles you have left! I used to gauge the willy on the needle - I don't trust this one.

you will get about 30 on the light driving sensibly, knock it to 25 -20miles if your putting your foot down.

Ive got a ph1 172 and get about 350 miles on a full tank if i take it easy, like changing gear at 2500 revs. If i put my foot down i get more like 220ish!

Lol. My OH's 206 takes nearly £50. She gets pissed at me when mines so much cheaper to fill up. Sister says the same thing about her cooperS. They dont seem to understand that it simply means im gettin less fuel into the car meaning i need to refuel more often? women! lol
