How goods the standard stereo

In a mk2 172

Not bad at 6 x 60 watts but also not great. Opt for the Alpine 6cd changer, thats what I have and Im not sure, but under the right rear seat there appears to be what can only be decribed as the most useless sub (standard!!) Ive ever seen. If that is what it is....................



The controls on the stick by the wheel work well, but the track changing button feels like it has come off an alba stereo. Tacky and awful. Overall, as standard, functional with not a bad sound.....

4 x 45W cd remote as standard, rds, traffic etc does the job.

Ive kept mine standard as I like it to match rest of dash, others will no doubt "upgrade". depends what you are after.

Its nothing special but is more than up to the job of keeping me entertained in the car as opposed to half the cars around me!!

than go for a sony mp3 with tft screen

lifelong 172 its 4X40W Im sure, so 160watts all in. I opted for the 6 disc renault changer, mines VDO Dayton didnt know there was a sub under the seat tho? Im going to take a look.

The 182 has: 4x40W Cabasse RDS radio single CD
with 6 speakers and remote control

The 172 was pretty much the same only not badged Cabasse, and cars before mid 03 had an autochanger as standard. The Cup I believe was the same as the 172 only with 4 speakers and no autochanger.

lifelong172 just had a look, under the rear seat behind the driver the longer of the 2 rear seats.

I saw this before when I was fitting the road angel wire under here to back of car,

its a large black circle thing with a wire coming from it?



dunno what it is anyone else know?

does anyone want to sell me their "better renault head unit". Ive got the pishy 4X20W one with tunerlist. Has anyone got a better Renault HU theyd want to part with. I still want tunerlist though.

I totally agree with Liam about keeping the standard HU because it continues the lines of the interior.

andy, before my dynamque went (so standard it had the 4 X15W and cassette too not cd) i was looking for one, there seem to be plenty on ebay, should think you would be able to pick the 4X40W cabasse unit ups fairly cheap, as most prefer to swap them for aftermarket units.

if its the standard head unit i wouldnt even bother. i thought it might be a little bit good but nope it wernt. it was naff plus cds always jumped.

is it the sound you say naff the style of the unit, or what?

The sound is "ok" it blends in to the dash and non of my cds have ever jumped in it, does the job imo got some nice features and look in place.
