how hard to u push ur 1.2

  Astra SRi T
i always push mine to 6000rpm on the rev counter, probably should' nt. anyone else rag the s**t out of their 1.2

  BMW M135i
When I had my 1.2 it got pretty much the same treatment, though not all the time.

Had good fun with the last 1.2 courtesy car though :D

As long as the engine's warm and you only do it when necessary, rather than caning the b****cks off it in every gear on every journey, I see no problem with it.

They wouldn't put the rev range there if you weren't supposed to use it ;)

  H22A7 Accord Type R
I change at 5500 mostly as the revs drop bang on 4k, perfect for max torque for the next gear!

  Elvis - Biarritz 1.2
I give it a fairly good shove to get it moving, then I just lean my weight onto it to keep it going.

Hills are a nightmare though.

I dont really see the point in thrashing a 1.2 much though as you get over took by wildlife in it, so its pretty pointless IMO

actually did laugh out loud becasue i know its true haha.

i rag it more often than not, only becasue i have to cain the b****cks off it to get past Grandma in her Rover doing 50mph

  Audi TT 3.2 V6
lol the 1.2 16v engines arent that bad really, could do with a bit more torque and yes u do have to boot it to make it move...but i think my 1.2 16v clio is faster than my gfs 1.2 16v corsa!

  renault clio 1.2 mk2
i only thrash mine on the motorway, pushing it at 6k revs, but then i had a problem i changed into 4th to slow down a bit and the stop light came on had to stop for like 5 minutes to let the thing cool down lol.

  Audi TT 3.2 V6
weres the fun in thrashin it on the motorway? lol we all know the things take an age to get in triple figures granted once they get there they can hold it ok but thats bout it.

more fun thrashin round the lanes :D

  H22A7 Accord Type R
mine goes onto 6k no problem but the jetex and k-tec help it breath that bit better top end - just not much point with the gear ratios

I always hammer 1.2's the red line is just there to warn you that you should have changed up 5rpm earlier.

  Audi TT 3.2 V6
lol well said edde

although mine tends to be on its knees by the redline, as said earlier in the post 5.5rpm seems a good number for me.

stuck a piperx induction kit on the other day but i cant drive the car for about a week n half (insurance reasons...meh) im just hoping there isnt too much power loss from it as i love the sound but dont want to loose any power...ive not got any to loose lol

  None
I usually change at 5.5k if not before. Sometimes I can get bored and mess around in 2nd gear getting it to aroun 6.5k, iv'e seen the needle go to 6.8/7k before, to which I promptly stepped off the pedal as the limiter didn't kick in lol

  Clio Dynamique 1.2 16v
No way...i cant believe so many people rag their 1.2's lol

Whenever i see them they are always rolling along at a slow cruzing speed!

well i change gear at 3500rpm lol. Im thinking about the MPG!! Make that petrol last longer, the government already rob us by sticking larger amounts of tax on fuel. so why give them more.....Make that petrol last haha

  Mk1 MX-5 next summer
i have to rag it jus to keep up with traffic lol, specially pullin out of a junction on a 50-60 lol, an duals are so gay unless am on me own. But round town on me own again it ent to bad, well for me, my first car but all me mates have like new mini coopers, bmw 3 series an done up civics etc so i get left. lol loves it

  I just can't believe sooo many people thrash the s**t out of their motors! We have a 13 yr old 1.2 Fidgi for our runaround, but would never dream of ragging the s**t out of her . :nono:

depends what mood im in, if im just driving normally then usually change about 3,500rpm, dont take it over 3,000rpm for the first 15 mins

if im on the dual c/way then usually about 5,000rpm

if im really going for it if someones up my arse or on a backroad then its usually 6,200, which is just before the limiter. my mums gives up at about 5,800rpm and stops pulling as hard but mine keeps going untill 6,000-6,200rpm

goes alright when its hammered too, brilliant watching some idiot in a vectra or similar sized car right up ur arse then see him get further and further away as u hammer it into a bend at 80mph, 3 wheels anyone? lol

No point changing up at higher than 5500, power drops off after then.

yep but if you read i said mine keeps pulling into 6,000rpm where my mums standard one doesnt and the power drops off about 5,800rpm.

with 122,000 miles the engines really loose and the airbox/filter lets it breath nice and freely!

  RARE Unmolested Corsa sxi
i turned to go round a bend (wasnt sharp) in a country road at 80ish and the car decided otherwise.....

...carried on forward through the field. no fence luckily, just s**t loads of mud all over my paint job.

wasnt even raining.
