Tells you on the V5 these days.
There is no grey area. Legally it cannot be louder than standard, however only in the last few years have manufacturers had to decalre on the V5 the standard volume of the exhaust, so an older car, its almost impossible to prove.
Where is this stated? Its only recently that the police have become so anal about it, probably due to chavs sitting in car parks at midnight boucing their 1.2's off the limiter
Regulation 54(2) of the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulation 1986 as amended said:Every exhaust system and silencer shall be maintained in good and efficient working order and shall not be altered to increase the noise made by the escape of exhaust gases.
yeh he said ive got 2 weeks for it to be under the supposedly 82db for a 1.2 and that i have got to get it retested by them and it will be lifted
no fine
if i fail to get it retested could take me court n all that. gave me a huge form that he filled out too
wtf, taking you to court over a loud exhaust and a £30 fine? I doubt this, sounds like hes just trying to worry you tbh.
