how low should i go?

ive orderd my Fk Silverlines and wonderd how low i should go? :S as i want to get up my drive and over most speed bumps etc...

If you go too low then you will introduce bumpsteer, where the car starts to self steer where the geometry, steering and tie rod settings have radically changed.

This is why people like Mark Fish don't seem to like going beyond what looks like -50/60mm on the 172/182s.

Basically if you want to go really low you should go to a place with the knowledge of bump steer and how to fix it, most motorsport teams should be able to do it.

where have you bought your coilovers from??
how much??

go as far as they can, -90mm!?

To the max karl

Pics plz ali :D

not the best pics to illustrate. but it's lower than this now!

Yes you need your camber, tracking, and basically a full geo done - pref a MS one.

Mine is so well setup [by me] that I would have come 3rd in the RAF Sprint day @ Barkston heath - and that includes all different types of cars. Or maybe its the driver ;) :D

what about the bump stops though?

If you run it too low without a very stiff spring damper setup you will hit the stops which is not good.

I have modified bump stops ;) - plus its been raised about 10/15mm since the above pic.

Hitting the bump stops is very dangerous when taking things near the limit.

Luckily I chose FK Konigsports which have very stiff springs [compared to most on the market]

I dunno how you guys cope with anything lower than 50mm, i'm down on apex, which OK don't get the best reports on here but they make the car look evil, i couldn't cope with it any lower! lol

fair play, yours is a track car and benefits from a stiff low setup.

IMO most of the 'decked' cars on here are to low for road use and are done purely for looks over performance.

There are obviously alot of different aspects to setting up a car to handle well and it is worth talking to an expert who can give you a more informed opinion on the best setup for your car. I got mine done at Northampton Motorsport who I would recommend.

Looking lovely Mark - Like the decal. ;)

At one point I went far too aggressive!!!! Its not so bad now!

PS.. Yozza's cup was really agressive in comparison! ;)

what would be optimum camber angle for the road, ie what they set at standard? or is there a better setting to be on with coils?

There no optimum each to there own I'd run about -1.5 degress but no Rs Clio has ever gone beyond 1 deree from memory stock.

You cannot compaire coilovers with stock stuff as coilovers don't roll as much.

Best way to do it is to adjust it yourself and see what you think etc.
