Only one hour really? My custom exhaust on my 206 took em 4hrs+! But then that was fitted free as I bought it from them...

I'm trying to decide whether to go to my local place again, Pipecraft, £350 fitted mild system apart from stainless backbox, or £475 completely stainless... fitted.

Or... take the trip down to K-Tec (150 miles away!) to get one of their systems done. At least if they only took an hour I could just wait around. I was thinking of the KTR/Janspeed one as it's the cheapest and also gives a subtle sporty note to the car which it very much needs and is not at all boomy as they put it, as I don't want one too loud!

So that's completely stainless and done all in for £400... hmm... any opinions!?

Ktec have the parts made up, not belittling their work but all they have to do is bolt stuff together. True, it shouldn't take anyone 4hrs to custom make an exhaust its just bending poles and welding. I have never used Ktec but soo many from this site have recommended it and with the cheep offers they are giving at the moment it seems worth it.

Yep, hence why they can fit them quickly.

If your going with the Ktec get it delivered and have it fitted locally. Not worth driving all that way as it just bolts on with no probs. Might be worth investing in new exhaust hangers as mine where fooked!

You can do a quote online via there website for fitting. So you could get an exact total cost.
You just have to add the exhaust to you basket and then in you basket there is a "Get a workshop quote" button then they send you an email back with the price.

Yeah mate done this, as I said got a reply for suspension but not for the exhaust yet! Maybe I'll get a reply monday.

I bet a local exhaust place would want more than £50 to fit though? But then weighing up the petrol it would cost to get to K-Tec you might be right...

Yes just got home and had an email from David waiting for me! Very helpful so far...

He recommends the Gaz suspension set up for the 182, haven't heard that name on here a lot, any opinions?

Will be a couple of months before I decide what to get first but at least I have the prices in my head now, I'm thinking exhaust first as I just miss my exhaust note from my previous cars!

Ktec = brilliant service

Yep :)

ordered my k-tec stealth online at lunchtime on Weds, it arrived at 10am Friday morning. Being fitted today at my local Renault indie specialist - will let you know how much it cost later.

I forgot to check the mounts until last thing last night too - my rear one is shagged. The garage will get one in today.

Aye, my rear mount had completely collapsed too!

How you finding the stealth mate?

Takes a while to get used to the noise on motorway journeys, but out blatting it sounds superb!

One hour's labour (£45) + VAT for fitting in the end

Peperami - dunno yet, I've only just driven 1.5m home from the garage in heavy traffic. Nice burble on idle though, but haven't had chance to extend it yet.

Only issue is, they haven't fitted it very stealth-like - it seems to be quite visible below the rear bumper...... but I'll have a proper look in the day light.

Aye. Is mounted to rear box with a clamp around it. I think if you twist this around it'll sit a bit higher.

Mines not showing at all, so should sit higher mate!

I know it should! It's the first thing I looked for when I got the keys back. IIRC there's something on the K-Tec website that says exactly that: if you can see it, it isn't fitted properly....

How visible is it?

I had mine fitted at ktec, and David took it out for a blast, when he returned it was back up on the ramps to be adjusted, as it expands when hot for the first time.

Ah, you mean the oval clamp round the back box?

To be honest, I think the whole thing's an inch and a half too low at the moment, including the centre section. I never examined the old one first, but I'm sure the centre section and maybe even the (original) cat are lower than before. There's a clear gap between the cat and the heat shielding above it.

My main concern is all the speed bumps I have to clear every day! :S

On the centre silencer box, the midline seam of it is level with the bottom of the floorpan. From behind crouching at valance-level you can see the bottom half of the back box and tailpipe.... :dapprove:

Still, it sounds good

Had a better look at it today - the back box is definitely at an angle so I'll give loosening the clamps and twisting it a go........ and if I break it I'll blame you lot :rasp:
