How much for cambelt change

  S2000

I am hoping to have the cambelt changed soon because I have just bought my car (Mk1 Ph2 1.4RT) and it is on 66,000 so I just want to have it changed to be on the safe side. How much should this cost (roughly) to have it done at a garage?

Ill try a few garages tomorrow but I dont know if some are like to try and charge me over the odds because they think I dont know any better about the cost (Im only 17 BTW) as that has a happend to a couple of my mates before.

Thanks.

Thanks for the offer Mike but I am actually base din Edinburgh so I think it might be a bit far to go for a cambelt change ;)

A Renault main dealer will charge you about £355 for a cambelt change on a 1.4  (according to my local dealer anyway). I reckon you should be looking at about half that at the most.

LOL, he wants £500 just to give me an estimate.

And thats if I supply my own oil ;)

I hope the Vee doesnt have any cambelts. Or if it does I hope theyre located by the battery at the front where I can get at them. Surely it cant be a harder job than fitting those Silvervisions?

How hard can they be to change? I shall do it in my lunch hour. What could possibly go wrong?

:D

I got mine changed at local garage with acessory belt for £120.
Does the accesory belt need to be changed as well, or is it advisable?

Im not sure to be honest, I just got mine changed while they were at it. If it snaps then the power steering and that fails.

When should you changed the belt on a 182? I know it is early to worry but hey.

I think its 5years or 72,000 miles Lee...............its that on the Vee for sure and Im positive its the same for all Renosport engines.
