How much has your clio depreciated in value?

I bought my 2003 172 with satnav fitted when it was a 15 months old from a Renault dealer for £11000, it had 16k miles on the clock. It's coming up for 3 years old now and it has 41k miles on the clock. I've seen one similar 172 on autotrader for £5200 and plenty more for £6000. The 3 year depreciation for my car from new will be about 35%.

I've had the car for 19 months and done 25K miles. It's lost £7000 in that time :dapprove:

I brought mine just over a year ago with 13600 miles for £8600 i think. Now got 33000k on it and id be lucky to get £6000 ish for mine. Sucks want a new car already think il just stick with this one!

my dad got his 52 reg 172 when it was 1 year old for £11,900 - now its prob worth about 7.5k !!!
It is a uk car, with factory sat nay & its flame red - so its quite rare.
I can't believe how much its dropped !

Got mine for £10.5k in March 2004.....must be worth about £7.5k to £8k at least 'cause its still 'as new' with only 9900 on the clock.

Average depreciation is %50 for most cars.. the RS clios are no better or worse than most cars out there..

I paid 12k for mine, brand new. 53 plate 172 (nov 03) with cruise. It's coming up for 2 1/2 years old and I reckon I could get 8k for it if I waited long enough. So that's under 2k a year.

I didn't loose that much on my valver when I sold it.
Once they get to a certain age they don't really depreciate that much, the first three years are the worst for depreciation.

You make me sick! pff I think I just bought mine at exactly the wrong time. I paid a bit extra as the dealer had a red one so I escaped hassle of looking and then selling my own car. But the cheap 182 euro imports started just after I got it which crashed the price of mine.

www.parkers.co.uk have it valued at £9,515 for private sale (in good condition) and a trade-in value of £8,565. However, they're saying that a franchised dealer would be asking £12,025... hmmm

There's free Glasses' trade-in values available via www.vauxhall.co.uk but it doesn't list an '04' 2004 172 - but the closest match would be an '04' 2004 182 and they're listed at £8,760 for an 'excellent condition' model with 18k miles.

I'd be well happy if I could get £9k for mine, if I sold...

Unfortunately 172's are selling for less than list price in recent months. I advertised mine on autotrader a few months ago at list price and didn't get a single phone call! (apart from those fking telesales people) I'd already bought a cheap punto but had to sell it cos I couldn't sell my clio. It was an expensive month.

BTW, I think the parkers values are very optimistic to say the least - Glasses' are far more accurate.

I was really lucky with my 172. I purchased a Monaco Blue import new on an 03 and traded it in 15 months later for a main dealer supplied 182 with 30% discount.

I got roughly a grand less for the 172 than if it had been a UK car, but I'd saved well over that buying an import. That's not so easy now, I swapped just in time.

I bought my 51 172 with 30k up for £6500 in September. I can't see it being worth less than £2500 in another 2.5/3 years so thats about 1300 a year.
