***How much is it worth?***

Potentially thinking of selling my 197 as my partner doesn't love it like she did the R26 and I'd prefer something better for long distance drives. Just wondering if you guys think £3500 sounds about right, or is that a little too low?

Here's the spec:

2007 RenaultSport Clio 197 in Nimbus Grey
97k miles
Completely standard apart from a ToyoSport Manifold and Eibach Proline Springs
In the last 6 months I've fully refreshed all the suspension with new shocks, springs, outer & inner tie rods, lower arms, top mounts, new brake lines, new rear discs and pads
Last september I also did the timing belt, water pump, aux belt etc

Only downsides in my opinion are that all the wheels need a refurb at some point, and there's a tiny bit of bubbling under the rear window which all Mk3's seem to suffer from.

Would be interested to see if that seems a fair price?

With no big bills due I'd say £3500 is fair.

£900 is madness. I gave my BG with 133k away for £2,000 because the belts needed doing and could have sold it 10 times over. It was a very good car in great condition. It was sold on shortly after with the belts done for over 4k. Lesson learned. Don’t be that guy.

To be fair you were advised several times in your thread it was worth around £3k minimum, even with the belts needing doing when you were considering selling it previously. And I think it would have sold for that given a little time.

I sold it for £3700 in the end, but I suspect with the way prices have gone over the last 6 months, it's probably worth a little less now. The belts and a few bits of servicing cost almost a grand from memory as there were a few bits found when the work was being done (nothing major), and I had a couple of extra bits added. These things always seem to find a way of escalating it seems.

So whilst those figures look drastic on the face of it, the pricing on these cars has been all over the place for a couple of years or more. And the belt and dephaser issue has always plagued the prices on these cars, with many buyers not wanting the headache and cost of getting it done at a proper specialist. A grand or so either way is usually a good ballpark figure.

This is why so many people on here advise getting the belts done before the sale. But with me being up the road from Mick and Diamond Motors, I tend to prefer buying them with the belts needing to be done, as I know Mick will do them correctly. The BG for example had been timed incorrectly, so much so that Mick phoned me up to check it hadn't been timed and mapped to Group N timing as he didn't want to set it to standard without discussing it with me first and it run like s**t due to the mapping.

Was a wicked car though, I miss it sometimes, but at the time I just wasn't getting much use from it.
 
  PH1 Turbo and LY 200
I am looking at selling my 172 Exclusive turbo this year. It was Engine Dynamics demonstrator car which they built the low boost conversion kit from. Turbo'd in 2004 an refreshed before I bought in 2022. It has done 39k miles full service history and all MOT receipts to back up mileage. Chris @ Beaniesport has said how clean the car is on top and underneath and how good it runs, credit to Andy at ED. All photos are present on @T240HP on instagram, plate included as well.

Some other things are:

Corbeau Clubsport Bucket seats
Boost and Fuel Pressure Gauge
PH2 Tailgate and rear bumper

I am thinking around the £8-9k mark. Opinons?

No, bumper off, couple of bolts, replace the o-rings, clean out the crud, fit new condensors, bumper then get zunsports

Thing is just be careful as if the condensers are rotten the radiators will be getting pretty close mate, the front vents catch all sorts of shite and rot them. Coolant cross over pipes are a pain to change and expensive. But if the cars cheap enough now’s the time to buy…not long until spring.

4 o(rings for the condensors, 3 more if doing the drier which can leak also.

Bumper removal needs arch liners removed as there's a screw behind the side indicator iirc.

It took a couple of hours, bumper removal being the longest as I wanted to make sure it didn't get damaged as it had just been painted. The metal clips at the top make you feel like you're about to break something

I hope admin doesn't mind me posting this here for now. I'll consider a proper for-sale advert depending on the feedback i get here :)

In summary: Two weekends ago, my Racing Blue Clio 182, featured in my [restoration thread], encountered a starting issue due to failed wires for the front windscreen and headlamp washer pumps. Despite both pumps functioning, the car shut down after a wiper stalk replacement, now remaining unresponsive when the key is turned.

Skipping troubleshooting details (available in my build thread here), I'm considering selling the car as-is. Seeking advice on a fair asking price, here's a brief overview:
  • Thorough nut-and-bolt restoration, including a complete strip-down, engine and box cleaning, and replacement of non-genuine parts with new genuine ones.
  • Currently a bit dirty but in excellent condition from recent use.
Brief details:
  • 4 registered keepers
  • Full stamped service history
  • All booklets, accident pack
  • 2 keys
  • MOT April 2024 (no advisories last time)
  • 85,450 miles
  • Belts replaced in 2022 by a Renault specialist (proof of purchase)
  • Approximate total expenditure of £4,500 (excluding the car purchase)
Features:
  • Original, except for a new PMS exhaust and Sports Cat
  • Original CUP wheels refurbished in Silverstone Silver Grey
  • Genuine Renault factory front splitter
  • Michelin PS3s, with recently replaced front tires
Already offered a grand and a packet of Haribo from work (not joking).

Included are a couple of pictures from the last outing and screenshots of work between 2022 and 2023. More available upon request. This is a preliminary step; I adore the car and prefer not to sell it at this stage.

I'm hesitant to break such a lovely car but aware it could benefit those struggling for parts. Storing is an option, but I'd rather part with it to avoid constant reminders of the time and money invested.

I'm sure you're in no rush to sell? If so I'd get it booked in to see Mick @ Diamond Motors. Obviously, it'll be costly with the transport down there, but in the grand scheme, it's a small price to pay I think, given the difference in value you'll get on sale.

When my RB failed to start and I gave up after over a month of trying (though I removed the gearbox for a rebuild in between), he had it started and running perfectly within an hour. Ended up being a single corroded wire hooked up to the main ECU.

In terms of value currently, it's very difficult to put a price on a non-runner, as most non-runners aren't in the condition yours is in, nor does it have the history and proof of works, etc. I think someone on the forum would likely pay a little more than a non-forum user, but the market is tiny.

I'd echo what's said above. Selling it as is would be a huge financial mistake. It could be a very easy fix for an auto electrician so at least have some diagnosis done by a pro before cutting it loose. RB is sought after now and with all the work done you'rs would be at the top end value wise when running.

Buying a Clio is a huge financial mistake...period! I'm not worried about losing my arse on a car to be fair. Money has never been my motivation.
It could be a very easy fix for an auto electrician so at least have some diagnosis done by a pro before cutting it loose.
Lots of mobile auto electricians are advertising in my area, but as I've just discovered, anything other than fitting an alarm or an internal camera, they don't want to know. There is a very good place in the town, he's been there for years, but he's not interested in an old Clio. Has work coming out of his ears and likes his VAGs (that sounds wrong doesn't it :ROFLMAO: As above, if I'm going to get it to a garage, then someone like Mick is probably the right way to go.

Jokes aside, Mick is the man for a fault like this, IMO you’d be crazy to sell it now after all the work you’ve put in and get pennies on the dollar. It must be the best RB in the country, when it’s working anyway.
From the brief time I was with Mick when he diagnosed my car, he knew more about electronics than the couple of auto electricians I’ve dealt with for other cars.

Just after opinions what this 172 I rescued from a barn last year is worth now?

53 plate 172
99,000 miles
Apart from a set of lowering springs (which will be changed back to standard soon) and a sports cat its all original. Even has the standard radio, cd changer and a standard exhaust system!
Passed its mot in November with only a couple of small advisories, was last mot'd in 2016.
All original paperwork and service book stamped upto 2012 then a pile of receipts from then onwards for brakes, services, cambelt changes etc.
Will be having all the belts and a new clutch fitted soon as the dephaser is starting to get noisy and clutch is heavy.
Bodywork is all straight with no dents or rust anywhere. Just has a few small scratches here and there and a few stone chips on the bonnet.

It was cheap! I didn't really want it at the time I got told I was having it by a friend that was moving abroad! And I missed my 172 cup a bit so 🤷🏻‍♂️

Gradually been sorting it out and was just planning on keeping it for now as a weekend toy as I thought there can't be that many standard ones around these days?
