Still sitting on cash to buy a motor but thinking of hiring a car for a few weeks then borrowing mothers car possibly till Feb.

Cash is earning money & cars are loosing.

Mate reckons X mas or new yr could be some mega bargains.

Opinions??

I keep looking at Trophy's and they have fallen in value considerably in the time i've been searching around. It wasn't long ago that a good one was £9500 now they are starting at £7500. I'll be looking to buy at Christmas and by then i expect another £500 will fall off of that. :)

people will always pay that little more for a very cared for eg - well they used to! but even that is hard to get in these times! best keep what you have - have lost track how many new cars ive had - but not again! :)

I'm holding out till i can afford insurance :( if i go for a 182 next august i think i'll get a good'n for 5.5K Easily.

Wait until the full credit crunch hits mate and jobs start disappearing. Thats when the real bargains will be had.

I think they'll be in free fall from next April when the new tax bands kick in.

Good job i sold mine when i did;)

Could buy another & bank 2K!

Theres an ultra black R27 for 12k at the moment steve.

You might be able to nock 500 of him given the current climate

Well i'm hiring a 1.7 corsa cdti for a few weeks see how things go;)

We're sat here watching Leon Cupra and FR 150 Tdi prices drop.

Just a shame we need to buy in the next two weeks or I'd be waiting until nearer Christmas.

Still, £6k and an extra 10k miles for a car that was £10k at the start of the year is nothing to be sniffed at :)

If I could, I'd wait until Christmas/New Year. That said, I won't be upset with a purchase now and as a cash buyer, will quite happily make stupidly low offers (e.g. £6k for a LC 150 Tdi that's priced at £7k) because it's a buyer's market. The extra £1k pays for a remap and uprated clutch (200 bhp and 330 lb/ft here I come :) )

James.

January or February next year... those struggling now will be struggling even more after Xmas, plus with an increase in road tax in March, there'll be a few more selling i'm sure.

like you Steve i could buy an R27 and still have a few grand still in the bank as the bottom has dropped right out of the market

blimey where did you just creep out from?!

You can get a good one now for £5.5k!!

Depends how much your spending/ what you're buying. I think anything £5k and below will start to even off now but thos who brought new at £10-15k will still suffer (as they generally have a lot of money/ finance attached to the car)

I really don't think the new bands will effect things that much. In the greater scheme of things, its not that much extra on a yearly payment.

My 197 is just under a year old (will be 1 in 3 weeks), and with options was £17.2 list price.

I bought mine for £13,000 in April with 3k miles on the clock.

Its now worth probably £10.5k max in todays market. So its lost almost 7k in a year - or £540 a month. Glad my company pays me a car allowance!

Car prices will fall to what they are worth in the current financial climate.
who knows what that will be! Credit is harder to come by, people have less money to spend on fuel and maintaining unreliable/expensive cars.

I reckon early next year they will almost stall. They will get cheap but then there will be a point where nobody is buying either

When the recession really bites in about three months time is a good time to get the bargains. But as Financial advisors are saying, make sure that you can afford to buy items with long commitments. How safe is your job/firm?

i sold my ly 182 just in time really! i got £8500 for it less than a year ago,

Now ive just picked up a 53 reg flamer with 42k for £2500! :)

Just passed renault there, they have a 55 plate black gold up for 7495

I wonder how much money could be had off that, with a 3 year warrenty id half consider it, would want a good bit off though!

I was going to buy a 1*2, waiting till next year now, reckon there will be some absolute bargains! there is some already floating around...

More doom & gloom on the news today:D

Car sales almost none existant, new & private;)

Car salesman at garages must be in the s**t.The ones near me at furrows ford are on around 8-10k a year and the rest is commision.

If they aint selling there taking home about 800 a month if there lucky

in my loacal paper there is a 172 cup 53 plate 40k £3400 iirc :eek:i payed nearly double that for mine just over a year ago :dapprove:

must... not... buy... any... more clio... sports lol....

Seriously thought there soooo cheap now, think 2 is enough though :o

In terms of dealer prices i dont think you'll see many more reductions. There's only so much loss they can make off a car before they have to pack the whole business up due to not being financially viable

There are a couple of mint trophies on Pistonheads that we were dying to take a punt on when we were looking for a diesel.

As is, there was an already-cheap Leon FR Tdi with 42k miles up for sale in Lister's Coventry for £8k and we got it for £7k with a few extras, warranties and so on thrown in.

Buyer's market, some cracking deals to be had. Insultingly low offers ftfw.

love todays climate as a potential buyer its fricking awesome.

Stealerships closing daily, better to offload than wait;)
