How much power will I see?

  182 cup
Due to the planned NW dyno day, im wondering what sort of figures I should expect to see.

Car is 172 cup + matched inlets, Group N remap and K&N cone.

Anyone with similar mods? what results did you see?

By the time we have the day I will have BTB stealth and the 182 cat mod so should get an extra few from that.

It's all a guessing game.

I'd say around 170, but it would be interesting to do a run with the standard airbox too to see if the cone makes a difference.

  53 Clio's & counting
its going to be circa 170-175 and around 150-155 lb ft torque, depending on the make of rolling road mate

Wow! i would of thought 160ish standard so about 165ish with the mods!

will be happy if i hit 170 - or the magic 172

Be keen to see what yours is putting out mike. You certainly seem to have one of the better ones.

Agree with the comments re the airbox. Be interesting to compare the maps too.

Kinda hijacking this thread to ask a question but it's pretty relavent, hope noone minds.

I've always been interested in putting a car on a dyno... just out of interest and to say I've done it. Do you run the car yourself or do you sit back and watch your car whilst someone else does it? If you do do it yourself, what do you do? Just slowly accelerate and then floor it in 3rd? I want to take my stock 182 to one out of interest but dont want to look like a dick

The dyno guys do it, you have to sign a disclaimer to say you want your car to be run and in which gear (normally 4th for peak power on standard n/a engines)

Nothing wrong with asking mate!

My standard 182 made 176.6 bhp on a live RR which i was delighted with :D

Mine when it was running Angelworks Matched inlets, 98 Ron RS Tuner Map, K&N Gen 2 and Ktec Stealth made 175.5 at Surrey Rolling Road.

As said it totally depends on the RR. Although amusingly if someone gets a high reading it is usually scoffed at as RR results are usually wrong. If it comes out as a low reading they are seen as an accurate set of rollers lol

Chris

My car at rstuning ran peak power of 171.8bhp, thats with apd matched inlets, jms induction setup and rstuning remap, pulls very well, so if you get anything around the 170bhp you should be very happy

Booked into BTB on Friday for the cat mod so should see an extra 5ish Bhp fingers crossed!

I know that this mod is relatively new but I ran a de-cat with my BTB stealth and it wasnt loud nor raspy

I'd rather save your cash, get a k-tec de-cat, and run it with the btb, I saw no difference with the RS tuner remap, just smoother power delivery

Depending on the accuracy of the rollers you should be seeing anywhere between 170-175bhp, I saw extremely good gains from my BTB, an extra 8MPH on top end, propperly made it breath free

Scrap the cone filter if I was you, get yourself a standard ph1 172 airbox on there

I'm after a "fit and forget" mod and cant be bothered changing the cat over once a year then having to store it for the other 364 days.

Used to have a Ph1 airbox but got bred of the sound so went for the cone, love the sound it makes and not bothered about the few Bhp I will lose from it.

Its smooths out delivery through the range and gives an increased rev limit which can help for the odd keen/careless shift if you're tracking the car. Real easy to do as well, the refresh and update took about 20-30 mins for mine.

IMO, certainly worth a look-the output graphs you can produce using fastchips RStuner module were much flatter after the new map. Barely any more torque or power, just a lot smoother.

Plenty of info in the fastchip thread--> 'Clicky'. I assume the JMS maps are just Henks rebadged similarly to their R25v6 airbox-I understand he produced the 'pops & bangs' decat map for them which I believe is planned for release to fastchip customers in the near future.

Anyway-back on topic... Mike have you been able to try this yet? Did you manage to free up the O2 sensor ok?

There is a very noticable increase in torque midrange and it was a pleasure to drive home, even did the last 50 miles on the twisties to exploit it!

Had a little play with an Astra VXR on the A500 DC on the way home, matched him to the top on third and then I let off. He was popping and banging, loud exhaust and a Thurlby sticker on the back

They free'd them up no problem yeah!
