How much to charge?

  Bumder With A Buffer
Can you point out where i said thats all i'd be doing?

Errrrr...

A mate popped round on the weekend and wanted to know if I was up for giving his car a good clean inside and out as I have all the product and he’s a lazy sod. I said I wouldn’t want to be doing any waxing etc in the current weather conditions but would happy be up for that later in the year.

He then said could I just give it a foam/clean soon as it’s filthy.

He wants to know how much I’d want for doing this for him.

A] Simply shampoo wash and chamois
B] Wash, wax, wheel clean, tyre shine, interior clean and hoover etc etc

He’s a mate so clearly I don’t want to rip him off but I really have no idea what to charge?

Calm down everyone, sounds like Yellowbellys mate offered to pay him for it, not that hes asked his mate for money to do it

Id charge £20 for it.

I think his mate is being polite and tryin not to use his mate and show his appreciation.

Right i'm sure all you lot happy to spend hours cleaning your mates cars will be going to heaven, now you can sleep well at night.

But we are happy to charge and be charged, if there is a value in something its worth paying for.

Look at it the otherway round, my mate thinks enough of me and would really appreciate me doing it for him so in turn is happy to pay me for my time as he knows i'll do a darn good job.

Personally i'd do it for free (maybe not over the winter. Hate doing my own at the mo) or maybe get him to buy some beers. You're not going to use much product for that and at the end of the day mates are mates for these kinds of reasons. Bro's before hoes!!!!

end of day if i wanted someone else to clean my car, id prefer £20 in my mates pocket that i knew would do a good job than paying some random company (no doubt a bit more money) that would do an average or bad job

It should be a case of I scratch your back if you scratch mine.

I was my mates and my brothers every now and again.

They would only get abused with a dirty sponge and bucket bath otherwise! lol

if i was him as soon as i heard you mention chamois i would have changed my mind. lol.

I don't make a habit of cleaning my friends car. did spend a day on one once. clayed it n all, asked for nothing in return... few weeks later he wired my stereo in for me so i was a happy chappy.

I wouldnt charge anything. Ask for a few drinks on a night out or something. He might even give you 10/20 quid anyway. I give my gf's dads car a good once over with various products every so often and never ask for money but he still tends to give me 20 30 quid

Jeez, did your dad invoice you as a kid for when he taught you how to wipe your own ass?

I still owe my mum £15 for teaching me my first words.

Say you needed a favour from him in the future, are you going to pay him an hourly rate?

I hate cleaning cars. Havent washed mine for ages. Yet spent 6 hours on a saturday in january claying a car with a mate. It was something to do. The amount of saturday mornings I have spent in the workshop helping mates with cars for no payment is silly. Its socialising, its favours.

Scratch his back and he will scratch yours. Not in a ghey way.

If he is intending to drop it off and feck off to the pub and return hours later, the see if he will give you a hand, and learn how to do it himself.

i think the reason you like to help your friends out for nothing is due to your alterior motive - your name speaks volumes ;)

Lols at charging your mate, get him to get a few beers and lunch in for you.

I'm sure he'll hump you if you need a favour off him.

I wouldn't dream of charging my mates cash monies for little jobs doing. Maybe a full pc but not a fricking wash n wax!

Bit of banter and some cleaning jobs a good un!

This. Have a giggle doing it, spray him with the hose, wear tight hotpants... oh wait.

Nah you wash, he helps hoover inside, both go for lunch and a beer at Nandos, he pays.

I did a full correction and interior detail on my girlfriends sisters Mini last week. Took me 14hrs. Told her I'd do it for nothing, as I didn't use much products and wanted before and after pictures for my website. She was so pleased with the results she paid me £50 anyway! Wouldn't think of charging a mate, even for a full correction. They'll always look after you if your stuck for something!
