How much tread do you get through on a track day?

I realise there is no definite answer! But on a good surface (knockhill) and in half hour sessions how much tread are you likely to get through on normal tyres, got a spare set of fairly worn set of pe2s that I may as well burn up!

Cheers

You drive like a granny, they'll end up with more tread on them than when you started :p

My A048r's have done 8 track days, over half left on the rears and down to just below the wearbars on the fronts......the P zero's that were on there before did two days before they had to be replaced.

My Cup is set up and adjusted\balanced just perfect so tyre wear is minimal to say the least, we don't drive like Miss Daisy either........

Using PE2's on track at Bedford I lost no more than 1mm on the fronts. The rears were probably 0.5mm at most.

But are you driving carefully or is the accelerator hard down when you're accelerating and braking hard when you want to brake all round the lap, makes a big difference in road\track tyre wear. We're not pushing as hard as the Burpspeed guys, know our limits, but I expect in a few months the tyre wear we are experiancing now will increase somewhat from today.

No criticism, an opinion that's all.

We ran our Pe2's for about 15 laps at Brands on Monday, they had to come off as they were starting to melt.

What Tony said. I hammered my PE2s on track, but that meant I never did runs that were very long on them as it became very obvious when they overheated. Pitting when they got hot clearly reduced their wear massively.

Got RSRs on now and a trackday at Bedford tomorrow, so will be interesting to see how much tread I loose off them.

Mm cheers for all that guys, it'll be my first time on track in my own car so will do my best to stay sensible and not push too hard, save melting blocks off them!
