How much would I save 2.0-1.2

  Seat Leon Cupra 290
i love my 106 van, use it loads its pretty slow but it gets going, cruises at ease at 80mph on the motorways and still get 65mpg

  53 Clio's & counting
here's my 10 pence worth

i am thinking the same thing,i want to move out and im trying to save and weigh up if i can afford to keep the 172 but the more i look at it the more i realise how cheap the 172 is to run,its costing me 38 pounds a month to insure and thats about to go down (25 7yrs no claims+ban) it costs about 33 quid to fill up an i can get anything up to 260 miles to that (my record so far is 272 :) ) and am mines std its not noisey,no big wheels so the 195/50/15s are cheap to get and the more i compare the cheaper it looks :)

if i do end up downgrading il be lookin into either a willy or something like a 106 rallye,my last hybrid was great and bloody cheap but i just love the lil rallyes

Aye, and invalid insurance should you have a smash ^^

I thought about doing this, but fuel economy wise theres hardly anything in it, as the 1.2's need to be revved to get going. And insurance wise, at your age/ experience, it wont make much difference.

Id stick mate.

Thanks for all the comments guys/gals.
I think at the end of the day if I did downgrade then I wouldn't be making any significant difference to beer tokenage so it's absolutely pointless.
Plus I've just lowered the 172 on sportlines and I cannot believe how much more grip I've gained. This car will eat it's competitors round the twisties with ease now!:race:

Can't believe you were considering downgrading from a 172 to 1.2!! I reckon you would have regretted it a week later, after you realised the 172 is quality value for money
