should you ploish/wax your car? ive got into a cleaning phobia at the mo, and cant bear to see it dirty. Ive polished it twice in the last 3 weeks with auto glym super resin, and then the super high gloss finish which gives fantastic results, but am i damaging the finish long term? ie cutting into the top coat too much? what do you peeps do?

any thoughts, comments welcomme

cheers

just tread the sticky in the exterior section, fantastic right up, learnt alot about wash/waxing... now i just wish i could join :(

Unless the car has been scratched by dirt or has faded, youll only need to use a polish very occasionally. I just top my car up with a coat of Extra Gloss Protection every week or two and alternate it with a natural carnuba-based one like Meiguars stage 3.

For a really good finish, use the natural wax first and then add a coat of synthetic wax (like EGP) once it has bonded.

what you need is a pc, then your nearly as anal as me.

as for cleaning you car regulaly just make sure your using a wool mit (never a sponge), two bucket method, and a waffle weave drying towel, use these to minimise scratching your paint

Should do it the other way round Ben, the Synthetic product should bond to the paint then add some Carnuba was for beauty after.

Products such as Autoglym Extra Gloss (EGP) are designed the bond to the pre cleaner or polish. ( for EGP it should be applied over Super Resin for best results)

Applying EGP after Carnuba wax wont bond as well and give you the long lasting protection it could.

Some Synthetic Wax/Sealant products are not as fussy and can be applied over anything.

can vouch for the EGP finish after super resin. Gave it a really deep shine. So would adding a wax over EGP, such as carnuba be of any benift?

not from this weekends effort, will do though, trying to source a new alloy for the passenger side front wheel, its letting the side down at the mo due to curbing from the previous owner :(

Adding a carnuba over the top will increase the gloss, depth and wet look off the paint of nealy all colours.

so how does autoglym and meguiars compare mothers

i am using mothers at the mo, am using the clay, then carnuba wax and then reflections polish, it made my black rt look mint but my monaco valver doesnt seem as impressive, any tips

Mothers is very alike to the Meguiars Deep Cyrstal stage 1-3 range.

This had a paint cleaner, polish and carnuba wax.

Autoglym is quite a different product to the above and does not directly compare.

What do your feel the look is lacking? Shine, depth?
