How to change N/S driveshaft with plate

Hi guys, has anyone got any advice on changing the near side shaft on a gearbox which has a plate rather than a circlip. One of the plate bolts has sheared off, so will need to be drilled out if the plate is tapped aswell. Once all of the bolts are out does the plate come out through the driveshaft hole and then put back on with the new driveshaft?

new drive shaft should already have the boot with the plate on the end of it already attached to the new DS.
All you need to do is get that old plate of the side of the gearbox and pull DS out.
