how to get a samco hose to fit a phase 1 172?

heard that some people made the samco hose fit the phase 1

was wondering how they did it. am trying the search as I'm typing but can't seem to find more info

samco produces an intake hose for the 172 phase II and the 182 models.
it doesn't fit a phase 1 but I've been told it doable to make it fit
but was wondering how
