how to paint ph1 bumper strips?

  Clio Sport 1.2 8v
just want to know what best way is to paint my mk2 ph1 front and rear grey bumper strips to get them smooth, i am going to use body filler on the line that is indented all way around the trim, but want the rest of the bumper to look smooth as thy have a slight bumpy texture, i would normally use plastic primer from halfords however would filler primer work for this as i have never used the stuff ?

Your better off buying an already painted one then you'll only need to rub it down and spray it then.

You'll never get black plastics 100% perfect.

That will look even more s**t.

Just buy a bumper off a scraper that came out of the factory painted. It'll cost about £20

Scotch the textured plastic with red scotch brite, plastic prime (adhesion promoter) upol do it in a rattle can called grip 4 or #4 then use high build 2pack primer (3coats) dry over night flat down with 800/1000 or 500 on a orbital sander, paint.

How much effort is that when a painted bumper that needs respraying is about £20? It will save 75% of the work.

Then it just needs a quick scotch, prime and paint.

Have you ever tried sanding down black plastics??

no non sport ph1 bumpers come with colour coded bump strips .

only the ph1 sports are so the op would need sports bumpers wings and skirts so more than £20 and probably be a different colour too.

You still would only need to paint the small black bits though, not the whole bumper!
