HOW TO RESET MY ECU. CLIO 172!!!

Hey guy's i need to reset the ecu on my renault clio 172 as ive got an electrical fault and have been advised to reset it. does anyone know the correct method to do this?? thanks

Its not the sort of thing a fw button presses does.

You'll need to go to a dealer and let them plug it in.

Or perhaps post in the correct section?

Remove the battery for 30 mins or so, can sometimes help. However most faults need a clip to reset fully.

Well long story here we go lol. The other week i went to start my car and when i turned the key there was no ticking over just a load of buzzing and clicking noises and the main been lights started flashing but no ticking over. We managed to bump start it and it was ok so we assumed it was the battery. since then when i start the car it starts ok but when it first starts up it make a buzzing noise from the dash and the petrol and temperature gauge go as low as possible them go back to normal evry time i start it. then today when i went to start it again it started up but then cut out started again and cut out started again and i tried to rev it but no response and cut out again then it wouldn'y start so left it a minute and it started up. so someone suggested resetting the ecu!!! what do you think???

I'd check all earths first, especially the main one from the battery to the chassis.
Check the one that is bolted to the engine too.

Sounds too major for a simple 'reset' to have any effect.

Or no dont tel me that lol i've only had the thing about 2 week!! maybe i should just fire it back to the guy who sold it me??

The only true way to know is on a Diag at Renault.
