How to spray bullets?

I am going to do my bullets white, who has done this and how did you do it, i am thinking shotblasted or sand down then primmer?

i have heard of liquid masking which they use on RC cars. which seems to be good seen it on youtube. i might just paint mine witha brush although spray looks better.

You can mask it but it will take a while.

Best is to just get a touch up kit with the paint in a small bottle and a fine paintbrush. Patience and a steady hand.

Paint the letters after you have finished painting the whole bullet then lacquer it al.

You'd get away with just scotch'yin the bullets mate.

With regards to the lettering, it might be better if you use bluetac to mask the backing off while you paint/spray the letters :)

yeah thats a good idea camble, Once i have sprayed the bullet, depending on if i get a spray or touch up pen i will find a solution.

I did my lettering with a touch up pen. I used the little brush and just took it really slowly and carefully.

I didn't mask anything off, but I just had a small piece of cardboard with a straight edge, I just held that against the side of the bit of the letter I was painting, and moved it round as I painted different bits. If that makes sense.

Yeah got you, Yeah i will do that just use a brush and take it slow and steady, how many coats of laquer did you put on?

I sprayed the whole thing with a few coats of pimer then the base colour, then just painted the numbers with the other colour straight over the top, then spray laquered the whole things a few times.

not much help about the paint code for that sorry,
But a lot of people do the bullet colour to match the wheel colour, and then the lettering to match the actual car colour. Looks good and makes it stand out a bit more :)

Thats the plan with me.
Silver bullets (same as my 172 alloys) and then Flame Red lettering! Im going to try it out on my spare set of 2.0 bullets to see if I like it!

Ah nice nice. Yea you got nothing to lose if your doing them on a spare pair. Plus being paint if it goes wrong you can just sand the colour down and start again.
Don't know if this helps re colour code.

Look good matey! How did you decide to mask off the lettering?

You dont need any masking tape, just use a touch up pen. Sprayed it Ford graphite grey to match my wheels and badges and used a arctic blue pen from renault

Sound, ill give it a go at the weekend!
Will be my first time spraying anything!

Its very rewarding when you get it right. You need to sand the bullets down first to remove the old paint, before you put primer on. One thing I found as a novice was to use too little paint a lot of times, rather than too much paint in one go, othewise you get drip lines. Laquer especially. If you do you can just wait for it to dry and wet sand them down again, but it is a pain and means it takes longer to finish.

all you got to do is to remember to use thin coats of paint, just enough so that for each coat you got a high gloss wet coat. anything more and the paint will start to run. practice on an old bit of metal or plastic to get used to the spray of the can

yes i found that when i first started spraying do lots of thin coats and give time for it to dry and just keep going until your happy with the look, i am going to do mine white with french racing blue letters same as the car, also going to the small diamond badges on the alloys white too.
