How to watch movies on a 360 via usb stick?

Got some movies on my laptop can i put them on a stick and watch on a 360??

And can you do it on a PS3 aswell?

Stick needs to be FAT32. Only plays certain formats too. It lists them on the 360 website. No idea about a PS3. I don't own one.

PS3 will play MKV's.

Both will play AVI's.
