how to wire in 6x9’s

i have a kenwood head unit which has 4x 45w outputs for speekers but the is only 2 speakers in the front door cards, i want to wire in some 6x9s on the shelf but dunno where i get the other 2 speaker outs from, i cant use an amp as i allready have one running 2 subs.

thanks

I assume you say you cant use an amp because you only have the one set of pre outs?

If this is the case then you could use another amp - its not ideal, but you can buy splitters, so that you can split the one set into two sets of pre outs for a second amp.

Alternatively (sp), if you really dont want to go the amp route, you would need to run new wires through the car from the back of the head unit to the speakers. This means you would need to work out which wires from the HU were the rear wires, cut them off the connection block (which plugs into the car) then use a new connector block to wire the new speakers up directly. This isnt really the ideal way to do it, but probably the easiest and cheapest.

Or you could do what ive done - THIS ONLY WORKS IF: you have speakers either side of your parcel shelf (only small ones) - not ideal but if you extend the speaker cable you can run the 6x9s easy!!

  don't

every1 hold up a minute, think ppl have read it wrong

he has 4x45 watt outputs from headunit yea

he is using 2 of them for his front speakers i take it???

so he still has 2 pairs left that he can use 2 power the 6by9s??

Maybe hes thinking that the front speakers will use up all of his 4 outputs from headunit, when really it wont, because hell have 4 pairs of wires

that make more sense or am i the 1 in the wrong

The 4x45 is the power output per channel, so it has 4 channels (so 4 speakers) each putting out 45w of power. 2 channels are already running the front speakers, by channel i mean the speaker wire coming from the HU. the power output is different to how many pre outs for amps there are. So what he needs to do is get speaker wire running from the spare 2 channels (speaker wires) on the back of the HU to the back of the car to wire the 6x9s up. And to do this you need to cut them off the connection block which is attached to the HU.

Hope that all makes sense.

thanks guilbert.. first reply has sorted me mmmm just need to work out which ones are for the rear speakers ??? trial and error i take it?

Well sometimes the HU has a stick on it somewhere telling you which colour is which. If not try the book for it.

And if you still cant find it anywhere then yeah trial and error it is.
