How well are 197's selling?

  LY 200
As per title is it easy or hard at the moment?

I'm currently looking at taking out a finance deal on a new 200 and taking the money out of my 197 as for personal reasons it will better suit my circumstance if I can get the right money both sides but being that i'll be taking a chance on being able to sell mine am I looking at my current car sitting with me for weeks or months?

It's is a later 58 plate with 16k on the clock and some decent goodies if that makes any difference.

Same as any car, it'll sell if it's good condition, good spec and you price it right.

If you're greedy, it'll sit for sale for months.

Imo they are selling but it all comes down to price.

The market is full of unrealistic people sadly, instead of advertising for a fair price they try to get above the average and end up pricing themselves out the market.

^Sorry Albert, using the iPhonrigorous write posts is not the best.

How much is being unreaslistic?

I was thinking with 200's creeping in at 11/12k for the early ones it would be easy to sell the higher miled early 197 than the later 197's unless people are still worried about the looks of the 200. lol

Condition, service history, mileage etc?

Milage is in the first post and the condition is as to be expected for a car of its age on that milage really!

In a nutshell I would say it's in no worse condition than either of my previous 2 sports that have sold to the first eyes that looked at them, has 16k on the clock, FRSH, has been garaged every night for the last year and half, nimbus grey, cup chassis, spotless satin black speedlines, faultless recaros, cup chassis and climate.

Has the odd stone chip but without going round the car with a magnifying glass i wouldn't say they stand out.

Thats what i was hoping for to be honest mate but didn't know whether I would struggle considering the value of early 200's.

I will see what Toomey come back with regarding prices tomorrow and then decide but I suppose it's abit of a gamble on mine selling.

  Mint 1*2's for sale-
Hi Jay-

I would start at 8995 & get as close as you can to that of you want a fastish sale-

10k- No chance.
9.5k- minimal chance
9250- small chance-
<9k - is where its at-
remember r27's are selling at 8k on 57 plates- Then Nimbus R27 on Pistonheads with the alacantara retrim & every option was strugging at 9k-

I think it will sell for between 8600 & 8900 depending on your luck-
PX 7750-8250 depending on dealer

As said, i got £9k for my Cup in March. It had balance of manufacturers warranty (which expired yesterday, weird..) included 12 months tax as part of the deal, had FSH through BTM Performance, had 1 kerbed alloy, other 3 were all brand new under warranty. Overall condition was good, and had AC, recaro and spoiler options. Overall condition was good, but certainly not 'factory fresh'. Depends how much you need to clear, if it was me and I wanted it gone quick I'd put it up at £9.5k on autotrader. I sold mine to a guy from york (am in Birmingham) and had enquiries from as far away as Scotland and got asking price.

EDIT: Or if the above is right I sold at the right time, lol

Listento Steve!

At least you have the best colour. ;)

Cheers Steve!

I would be happy with between 9 and 10 anyway so I won't be pricing myself out!

Oh to think I sold an early 182 only a year and half ago for 7.5k. Depreciations gone mad.....

when you look at the month on month depreciation of say a 197 then im surprised anyone buys a new car-
you are looking at between £100 & £150 a month loss- so £~30 a week ( & nearer £200/£250 a month on a brand new car)

over 2 years thats a lot to loose....

And people moan about young drivers forking out 2-3k to insure cars!

If I intended on owning the new car after two years I would be thinking along similar lines steve but because of the milage im doing these days a new car that comes with the peace of mind of a warranty makes sense!

Especially if I take the thousands iv got tied up in mine that could end up going towards mine and the girlfriends mortgage deposit next year.

All rests on how much the milage I'm doing ups the monthly payment as 6k is nowhere near enough which I'll find out tomorrow....

Didn't sell mine privately, part ex'd it. The chap sold it on but it was on his website for less than a week and he specialised in BMWs!!. Who knows where it's gone now?! Hopefully the buyer will pop up on here as it had a CS.net sticker in the back and a CS.net taxdisc holder!
