Hub spacers

Hay has anybody experimented with hub spacers . now I'm not talking about spacers that bolt between wheel and hub , I'm talking about a spacer that bolts between subframe and stub axel . I know ford fiesta st have a similar kit which vastly improves handling just wondered if the same was available for the clio ?
