Huge Problem with Cup :-(

Last night with no warning my car stopped and the oil and stop light came on! Now I only had my oil changed at 5000 miles I know ive done a few mile since then but Im scared stiff to move my car and the AA are monkeys who dont have a clue...Ive had then out and they revd the nuts off my car!

Any help on the type of oil to buy? Im so so scared its cooked!

5W / 40 fully synthetic 2.0 16v (renault recommend elf). If youve got a problem like that - get it to a main dealer straight away. If there is a warning light on they will hook it up to there xr25 or clip diagnostic system. The car records what the problem is on its ecu (electronic control unit) and then tells the diagnostic computer what the problem is. Is your car covered with the 3 yr warranty ? if not, it may cost a few quid but isnt it worth it to keep your 10 grand motor mint ?

if your near a Shell garage then they do an Ultra 5W-40.......so you can use that........or at Total/Elf garages then Total Quartz 9000 5W-40.........Esso might sell Mobil as there the same company........Mobil 1 0W-40 would be fine

i wouldnt bother with Texaco myself, there petrol never seems to be any good in my car so im not gonna try there oils

Youve got a CUP so it must still be under warranty so go straight to the dealer, dont let anyone else touch it as you may give them reason not to cover it if someone else tampers with it first.

You can use any good quality semi synthetic in there to top up, but as said, do not move or run the car unless you HAVE to and get on the phone to a main dealer.

Cheers chap bought some Quartx synthetic oil 5 - 40 w, and have topped up my oil to max level ow following advice or Reno..a helpful chap for once.My car is booked in for Tuesday am first thing, Ryhs Reno Sheff were bending over backwards for me unbelivable! For all those who dont know us sheff people have had a number of run- ins with Reg Vardy....

Anyway hopefully my baby will be ok however, I am very concerned!

renault warranties are dealt with by AA on the road.....I have RAC membership, but when i had to call out the RAC they asked me what make and whether i had warranty they put me through to AA who came out on behalf of Renault.
