  Clio 1.4 RT 1995
Right i have a 1995 <M> Clio RT 1.4...

Cambelt has gone!

The bit now bothering me is, water is not staying in the water bottle it is flowing straight out, there are no pipe leaks, and it is not leaking out of the radiator!

Where could it be going?
What problems is this causing?
Is it possible to resolve this problem?

could be going bloody anywhere, you need to see where its dripping out of in order to answer the next questions

  LY 182
what and it swallows endless amount of water with the engine not running?

thats a physical impossibilty, its more likely you just cant see where its going.

if you were to keep filling it eventually it would come out of somewhere.

could be leaking in to the bores but if its drinking it as quick as you are making out the engine wouldnt crank as it would be locked with water.

slight possibilty its pouring straight in to the sump but you'd notice that in the oil.
inside the car wet? could be heater matrix..

but its an impossibilty for it to just swallow water, its not that complex a system

Well the engine dosent start anyway as it stands with the cambelt having snapped...could this have caused what is happening with the water??

  LY 182
ah.. just seen the cambelt is gone.

i've seen broken valves peirce water galleries in the past !

  LY 182
new head if thats the case mate.
when the cambelt snaps the pistons hammer the valves back up in to the head.. where they enter the combustion chamber on a slant they are hammered up sideways, and the sharp edge of the valve has been known to peirce through the comustion chamber in to a water gallery.

its costly and a big job anyway as the heads got to come off to change the knackered valves from the cambelt having snaped

ok then cheers mate, got my manual on the way so i can have a go myself, isit possible further damage could have been caused leading to a whole engine change? or should i just get away with the head?
