I almost died

Set off for work at about 10:40 this morning, giving it some in the twisties.

Came up to a tight 90* bend, practising a bit of heel and toeing, and suddenly the steering went.

I slammed on the brakes and ended up across the otherside of the road with the nose of the car facing down into the ditch and the tail sticking out on the wrong side of the road. I was holding the steering wheel on my lap.

Luckily I wasn't too far away from my GFs house and her Dad came and pulled me out. The car is fine except for some scratches on the passengers door.

Could have been worse I guess.

I am looking at it now and I think the thread has just sheared off the wheel.

I know for a fact the last owner took it off many times and it was rammed on when I came to take it off a few weeks ago.

ur killing that car, i seem to read about one disaster after another from you. was it you who jacked the car up on the oem jack, it collapsed and left the car sittin on its disks?

sorry just re-read the thread, i thought you had taken the wheel of and not fixed it back on properly. bit of shitter that happening, what sort of costs are going to be involved for the repair?

This was my initial reaction but then I think they would say as they didn't fit it they aren't liable.

The past owner has messed around with it and for some reason there is grease everywhere, all over the horn contacts.

I am just so glad nothing was coming the other way and it was on a relatively slow corner. It is a fast road in parts and there are some gentle bends that you take at 60mph+ and they are lined with thick trees.

The car has no damage that will not PC out. Luckily the passenger side was already scraped so I needed to get combine04 and his PC down anyway.
