I had no problems with my 172 this month

... in fact, not since absolutely ages ago when my washer bottle split. Before that, nothing had gone wrong at all!

just thought Id let you all know.

Owners with similar experiences please chip in and well write to Renault and congratulate them.

Makes a boring post though doesnt it.

Mine has been fine for a good few months now. It went back a few times for the knocking from the front, which theyve given up on. The interior rattles like mad now, but other than that the car is 100% sound, no major mechanical gremlins even after the 920 mile thrash to and from Scotland.

Lee M....could be engine mounts, i had a knocking and that is what they turned out to be!

I havent had any problems for at least 6-8 months.. infact I only had one problem and that was when I got the car (which was fixed no probs FOC).. so thats well over a year.

Ive had my 172 since November.... and apart from a passenger seat runner and a rattling drivers window, no major probs. Its been 5000 miles of trouble free (but rattly) motoring for me... touch wood....

2.5 year old 172 with only 2 problems so far, 1 headlamp washer ball and climate control sensor, so they are not all made poorly.

Over 15,000km of very hard motoring and like the old Timex watch advert says "It takes a licking and keeps on ticking".

One litre of oil consumed! And this includes a lot of flat-out driving, whether it be Autobahn or the ring.

off to the dealership on Tuesday. so many things need to be sorted - 4k rattle, engine mounts, knocking of suspension, and general build quality stuff.

Im not that fussed though as its the nuts of a car!!!!!!!

Mine is nearly two years old - only replaced a headlamp washer jet!!

Dosent really rattle much either - a good un!!

over the last two years and 36K so not to bad

someone drove into it after 5 days of taking delivery front wing respray
head light Washer jet ball popped out
Outside Temp sender started reading anywhere from -60 to 200
little fan thing in the roof for the air con replaced twice
passenger seat air bag fault
Weld split on exhaust back box (after only one year)
Windscreen surround parted company with window while going down M1 (tho thats Auto Windscreens fault not Renault)
and each time i have it serviced they either pinch or brake the wheel locking Key
leaking CV gator
exhaust mid section rattle (fixed this weekend hopefully)

apart from that great car and still happy

Should I be concerned?

Had the 172 for 8 months now and it has not been near a Reno garage yet, no matter how hard I thrash the thing i can not get anything to rattle, bang, squeek or fall off. I feel that I am just not having the full Reno experience and are thinking about trading up to a Citroen.

Oh yeah, there was the broken throttle cable and broken front spring experience, but apart from that its been faultless!
