  S4 (320bhp) + Clio 16v

Just been out for lunch. Reversing out the car park space in the pub and my power steering is so loud ppl came out the pub to see what the noise was. Pi**sing me off now. Tried the slick 50 and that seemed to make it worse. Any more suggestions apart from buy a new car thats not french?

Loud screeching and cant turn the steering wheel. Its like its fighting back! I wouldmind mind if it was a quite noise but people look at me like im some sort of idiot everytime im parking my car! Garage will charge loads of do a powersteering pump! been told its a big job!

sounds like the belt slipping over the pump pulley. You can check if you get a mate to turn the wheel while you watch the pump/belt.

And if it is can it be easyily fixed?

It sounds like when u hear cars when the alt belt is sliping but 10times louder!

Matey - thats definately the belt slipping without any question. Mine does the same sometimes! am getting it done this weekend

All you need to do is tighten the tensioner bolt in the top pully cog. This will move the cog upwards towards the roof of the engine thus making the belt tighter - that will be the answer to all of your problems. However, gaining access is an absoloute b**ch - you will need to remove the bonnet and the drivers side front headlight before you come close! Have you got a haynes manual? it tells all in there (or the bible as i like to call it!)

Is it going to be one of them jobs u start and think y did i do this?

Any special toold required for it?

No it wont - you just have to take your time and not do anything silly. You will need a set of torx tools - these are available from most places and are pretty cheap - these (in case you didnt know) are just a different form of screwdriver. To be honest it would be best if you had someone there who knows at least a little bit or is mechanically minded.....
