I have to ask this - 182

  Monaro VXR
Live in central manchester car is parked on the streets in town making it incredibly high risk. Only have 1 yrs no claims and only held my license for just over a year. yeh its that bad!

My insurance on my 1.2 16v was stupid enough with a years no claims its still around £1300

I went from 1.2 8V to a valver and there is a lot of difference (obviously)

So i'd imagine there would be a big difference in a 182...Kind of a strange question really.....

well by time i get it ill be 19 with hopefuly 2yrs no claims and a moped 1 yrs no claims, i live in a nice area so i got a quote with elephant and it was like £2567 so a bit less then £3900.

I dunno how i can describe my area. But i went out the other day to find puke over the side of my car after someone came out of the club next to where i park and chucked up over my wing and wheels. Wasnt particularly impressed by that.

Apart from that its alright lol.

And cheapest i have managed to get so far is £3600 half the insurers turned me down because the car isnt parked near where i live exactly as its impossible to park it on the same street. Due to double yellow lines everywhere be fine if i could get use of the carpark under my place but unfortunately im sat on the waiting list waiting for a space. :/

But thats securly locked need a code etc to open the door.

I have to park there nearest place to my apartment the problem with city centre living lack of car parking spaces unless i wanna spend a stupid amount of money for daily parking in the NCP.

My gf has just got a 1.4 clio, and I sometimes drive this. I can't believe the difference is so much, especially after I used to have a 1.4.

When you go from the a 1.2 / 1.4 to a 172, the difference is huge, but its only after driving rnd in a 172 and then going back to a 1.2 / 1.4 you realise how much difference there really is.

One thing I really regret is that I had a 1.2 but rather than go straight to a 182 I gradually got quicker and quicker cars until I built up to it.

Each step was fun but not exactly mind blowing.

If I had gone from the 1.2 straight to the 182 it would have been an absolute riot! I can barely comprehend how amazing that would have been.

Its pretty funny getting back in a 1.2 courtesy car now though, it felt so quick when I had one but now it seems like the gears are really short and that the rev counter moves and you keep changing gear but you are not actually moving!

Its all relative though, I went two weeks without driving my 182 and just used my bike and when I got back in the 182 I had the same feeling as I had with the courtesy 1.2 like the clutch was slipping and the car not going anywhere. I'd say the difference between my bike and the 182 is greater than the difference between the 182 and a 1.2. As has been said the 182 isn't really neck snapping but when you aren't used to it you can't believe they are legal.
