I managed to lock my keys in my car with the engine running!!!

I was fitting my sports cat the other night so the car was up in the air. When I had it all bolted up, I blipped the throttle to check for leaks. I got back up to turn the engine off but the door was locked, I nearly died. The RAID must have kicked in even though it was in neutral.
We thought about various ways to get in, removing fuses etc. I even whipped the negative off of the battery in the hope the car would stall and reset the system. The car just carried on running.
In the end, I realised the passenger door was slightly open and I squeezed a steel rod in and popped the switch.

My question is, should this happen again, how would I bypass it?

I appreciate this may be a sensitive subject and may be a security risk advising of such methods so PM away if you think there may be a problem.

Other than buying the 2nd key or breaking a window, what would I do?

You should of had 2 keys when you got it i would be more worried where the other key is not IF you lock yourself out again IMHO I think the RAID is done by revs not speed my cliford on my old car done it by revs and i done the same as you it lock the car when i revved it from under the bonnet but i got my other key and then allways left the door open after that

I thought the RAID should come in at 4mph, mines always on and has never locked when I've revved it...

I've heard a few instances of this happening on Clio's. I always make a point of putting the window down if I know I'm going to get out of the car witht he engine still running.

^^ Seconded here, pretty sure it says in the manual it kicks in at either 4mph or 4 kph, one of em any way.

RAID is for when you pull away, then the doors lock.

The doors do re-lock after 30 seconds if you have unlocked them and not opened them. Strange it should lock in your situation.

I too am very conscious of it happening and always wind the window down too just in case.

It happened to Evo mag too when they were testing the V6 I think...they stopped to move some cones for a test, and couldn't get back in.

Bent coathanger is what they used.

This hacks me of if I'm loading the boot as when you blip it again to unlock the doors again it arms the alarm and unlocks the doors, sometimes...

yer but if ur car was in the air and engine running, u would have free wheel, at idle it spins around 4-5 mph, this would activate the raid

You can turn RAID off. If you are doing work on the car with the engine running, and are worried about locking your keys in. Turn RAID off. Just hold the button in that locks the doors for a few seconds. You should hear a beep to indicate that it has been deactivated. Just do the same to reactivate it.
