Yeah ... reckon thats not a bad price! And 20k miles over 18 months isnt stupid or anything.

When you think it was £28k only 2 years ago it aint a bad price.

Would kill me to lose that much in such a short space of time.

if you can afford the beast get it, see if you can knock out a slightly cheaper price imo its £1000-1500 too dear

Just been on autotrader web site that price isnt too far off the mark ill push for as much off as i can hope too get it some where near 18k plus a good trade in on my CTR

Id put the value at £19k (as its a dealer and 20k miles) thats your target, £18k is a bit unrealistic as the dealer isnt going to wipe £1000 off a car that will sell.

The main point is the dealer may stop at say £19400 so youve really got to try and sell your CTR as better than average, e.g. its only done motorway miles, make it look immaculate when you take it for them to value and check in glasss for the true value of both cars so that youve got some room to present your arguement.

If a dealer wont budge on a price I normally say to them no had a budget cannot afford it, can I have a coffee please, perhaps you could speak to your manager to see if he is willing to compromise? if still no then make it seem like you are going to walk out, e.g. collect up your belongings and say if you could only do a little better then id say weve got a deal.

If still wont budge then try and get stuff thrown in like full £160. road tax, full tank of fuel £50, or a years trackstar subscription £120, free service etc.

"Red or Blue just look mint (in my opinion of course)"

The conversation always comes round to the colour in the end!! :D :D

and so it should! ;)

OK - nice car - I think the silver looks good incidentally, there was one at Santa Pod on Sunday and it looked great!

Things to check:

Brakes. If the front pads are mullered youre looking at £300 or £400 to replace. Rears are probably ok.

Tyres. Similiar really. If theyre shot (and at 20k miles they must be unless theyve been replaced) youre looking at another £300+ just for the rears. Fronts a little less but still ££££££££. Reckon on £600 for a full set.

Tracker subscription - does it have a lifetime subscription? If not thats another £200.

Have a really good look at the wheels. Theyre OZ Super Ts, but theyre polished rather than painted, and they scratch quite easily even if theyre not kerbed.

Tot all these up and use them as bargaining chips.

But even if you end up paying full price, its worth it. Youll wonder why you ever drove anything else :D

Would like to think you meant mine Mike, but I saw that silver mk2 roll up - and it did look a bit nice!!!

My front/rears seemed to wear very evenly, so might need rears changing too soon?

Yup, just bought a full set of 18s myself - £590

Cheers for the info guys really cant wait til saturday, hope the car lives up to expectations:D oh by the way silver is the coolest colour;)

Nice car, tho i would not buy it. The performance between a V6 and the 182 is not far apart. The V6 is far heavier but has the bigger engine, the 182 has the size and more grunt than the 172. Pay £12,000 for a new used 182 and put the extra £7,000 in a isa or do some crazy mods to the car like a turbo or something..

£6000 in a ISA is £25 interest per month...so thats part of your insurance paid...

Id was highly considering swapping the 182 for a Escort Cosworth

There speaks somebody who has obviously never driven a V6 255. Just a quick note the Tracker subscription is none transferable so this could end up costing you £300.

It never fails to amaze me how this type of response appears on EVERY V6 thread related to buying or selling. Unless the person whos started the thread has said "shall I buy an Evo or a V6?" cant we just assume theyve made their mind up.

I mean, whoever wants a V6 is never going to be after a budget performance bargain are they? So why even mention a 182? They dont look like a V6, they dont sound like a V6 and its not nearly as flawed/special (depending on your viewpoint)!

And why does the Escort cossie keep rearing its ugly head? Its nothing like the V6, well apart from the unreliability perhaps.
