I have gone from a high powered Nissan 200sx S14a to a clio 182.

I am impressed with the overall package as i bought the clio to save me money, but i just need a little bit more oomph!

So whats the best bang for your buck with the clio?

I have had a little browse and the options are looking like:

Panel filter
decat
cams
inlet matching
chip

GDI do cams,inlet matching and chip for £1500 so would people recommend getting that getting decat and panel filter added into the map?

But then your looking at about £1700 i suppose and £1700 for about 20bhp and torque sounds expensive power/pound ratio.

Which i understand i'm not going to get gains like i would on a turbo.

So i thought maybe just a decat and panel filter as i don't really want to tamper with the car that much or spend too much money on it!

Do strut braces improve these cars much?

Why would i do that?......thats just being sensible!!!!

How much you reckon, decat, panel filter and remap would cost?

decat and panel filter gota be £150.

Cams and a remap for a marked improvment.

Minor things like a panel filter and exhaust etc on there own will not give you gains noticeable enough to justify the initial outlay.

You only notice a real improvment with these things with 15 to 20 bhp over standard.

Another very good way for a instant gain in acceleration is strip the thing out and if you can, fit light weight front seats as the OE ones are very heavy.
 
Remap is the way too go on a 182 if you want too feel the gain without spending big money!

If you are gonna do anything else, decat, inlets, panel, etc get em done before the remap!

How much power increase you reckon i would get from panel, decat, ports and remap?
 
Hard too say mate, ive not got a decat, and it's not been RR yet , but i'd be gutted if it's not made 10bhp/10lb of torqc

Most 172/182's are a few bhp down on power anyway!

How much is port matching?
 
the gdi package , you're looking at around 195 bhp with alot more torque . some ppl defo recommend the inlets too , as well decat , optional on IK or panel filters ....some like them , some don't ...all in all you're gunna want everything once you start ...hehehe

I dont really want too much noise from the clio as my nissan sounds like a fighter jet so thats why i was going to go for a decat and not a whole system.

Cams are like £600 aint they?

Don't want big power, Thats why i asked about strut braces too, i just think the clio would benefit from a little bit more torque! and the decat with panel filter should make it abit more revvy which would be better for the twisties.

Want to keep road drivability so keeping suspension standard.

Rear strut brace does nothing de to the setup the CLios have.

The fronts most are usless it makes little differecne even a proper welded/bolted in solid type unless you've other suspension work.
