i need to protect a spredsheets content

we have spreadsheets that calculate things for the products we make. obviously we need to make sure this is safe!

what is the most secure we can make them so they can still be used my people but so they cant get to the formulas and background dcata ?

we are using excel but is there a better solution for the job ?

you could keep the data in ms onenote and protect the tab, i's v user friendly, but above is prob easier!

Worksheet protection is not really intended to prevent people from accessing data in a worksheet. If someone really wants to get your data, they can. If you really need to keep your data secure, Excel is not the best platform to use.

main issue is we have a indian office we dont trust them so obviously dont want them stealing basically all our companies knowledge

Could raw data be entered into a separate file and then imported into the calculation sheet?

Sounds like the best idea would be to store the data itself in a database backend and then pull it into excel that way.

Or even better would be some sort of web front end.

Yup I'd say some kind of app with a web front end would be best, keep the data in a back end db where you can secure it.

VBA might offer better protection. I think it allows for a better lock down of sheets. The front sheet just needs to reference hidden/protected sheets.

Use another Excel program and protect it with that providing they can still view it in normal Excel?
