iBook g3, any good for a basic laptop?

Hi,
I really fancy an apple but without the price tag. You can pick iBooks up rather cheap so I'm wondering if they are ok for Internet surfing, putting stuff onto iPhone etc?

A quick search online suggests they are from 2001 with a 500MHz processor (my phone has a 1.2Ghz dual core...) and a 10GB hard drive.

I'd suggest you need to a little more homework, or perhaps overtime and buy a modern MacBook if that's what you want.

You won't be able to use an iPhone with an iBook G3.

Hmm... I think my sarcasm detector is on the blink...

An iPhone requires iTunes 10.5 or later.
iTunes requires OS X 10.5.8 or later.
iBook G3’s will only run 10.4.11.

Ahh you see I didnt know that. I looked into whether you could upgrade it but don't realise about the os x. Thanks
