ICE Brands a newbie should be looking for

W

Willy

Hi

Got some money together for a simply stereo system (£300). Decided on a DEH-P6000UB Head unit (http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/8124.html)

Need to source amp, sub and a pair of components/tweeters. Have about £200 to spend. what brands should i be looking for? i initially started looking at pioneer/alpine but there either really cheap or really exspensive.

cheers

your on the right lines, for that kind of cash your not going to get anything amazingly good. you need to be looking at some of the special deals places like CAD offer.

Probably not what youd go for if you had more cash but on a budget they can save you some decent money.

Headunit is spot on.

something like this is a good start and represents great value for money without breaking the bank:

then coupled with a pair of coaxials driven from the HU i think you'l be pleased.

comps made for the renualt itself:

no amp for them though, i dont think your budget will stretch that far BUT a month of saving and you'l easily have that sorted right ;)

same stereo on CAD for less money:

to be honest the 6000Ub is a good unit but i dont think you'l use all its functions so somehting like the DEH 5000UB or DEH 50UB both at £104.99 on CAD will suit you just as well.

bass pack £129.99 +
comps £69.99 +
HU £119.99 or £104.99 = a max spend of £319.97

coupled with this free delivery code on CAD : 7e6e57

you have a nice little setup :)

Great post Sean!

Was looking for just that sort of thing. Would it make a difference if i could source anorther £50-£100?

Setup looks perfect for me though, might go ahead and order this later today :)

I actually have a Sony Xplod XM-255EX Amp, but dont think its very good (4 years old) and a sony sub (not sure of details). dont think there too great though.

then when u have enough cash this little pioneer amp to finish off the front setup nicely, all matching too:

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pioneer-gm3300t-p-5594.html?cadid=77b0b0a96e908ace465ac0befee0ebc7

total max spend £389.96

maybe a little bit of wiring, fuses etc needed too, but there cheap :)

maybe worth using the amp for the comps if you have it, just hide it so no-one knows your using SONY gear! lol

to be honest loads of people will tell you to stay clear of the sony stuff, me included but your not gonna be winning any competition with this stuff so as long as it does the job i think you'l be happy, also ask yourself this, a sony amp and pioneer amp, hooked up to the same comps, would you be able to tell the difference? i think 90% of people wouldnt!

Ah ha! Awesome!

pretty embarassing but would that JBL amp not hook up the components aswell? :clown:

maybe its worth using that sony amp then, and upgrade it in the future but like you said i sure as hell wouldnt be able to tell the difference.

  Focus RS Mk1
not really, the sub on the offer has a max rms of 350w that amp is a low powered 2 channel so youd need to bridge the channels (+ from one channel, - from the other) to give the sub enough power

That looks good enough for me then :approve:

wanna come fit it too :rasp: ;)

will let you know what happens when ive got all the bits and bobs, and see what other people have to say.

  Focus RS Mk1
yeah always worth hearing a few opinions for sure.

fitting is easy mate, im sure there are enough guides knocking about to help you
