  Mk1 Clio 1.4 RT
Hi guys,

I have a 96 P reg Clio 1.4 RT. I am planing on purchasing a head unit (The Pioneer 2800) which can be had here:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=004&item=140001256978&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

I've had one previously and I thought they were really good. Do you recommend them? Is there any else better for the same price or near?

OK - Speakers.

What size speakers are the front? I went to Halfords and he said they were 10cm front and back. I'd like to confirm this.

Right - which speakers should I get for the front doors? (The HU outputs 50w) so I'd like to get as much power as possible. Do I have to remove the whole door panel to fit the speakers? Or can I just unscrew the grill and remove it from there?

Back - Again, which size and speakers should I go for? Are 10cm good enough?

Any recommendations, guides or tutorials would be much appreciated.

Many thanks :)

hi, the speakers r 13 cm at the front, 10 at the rear as far as im aware.
ive not heard that specific headunit but i have a pioneer and cant rate it highly enough, i recomend them to anyone looking for a new HU.

speakers wise i have no rear speakers and have opted for some component speakers (infinity kappa £100 of ebay) theyre well worth the money and if you think your up to fitting them you wont regret buying them. im afraid i cant offer any speaker fitting advice as ive never owned a mk1.

hope this is of some help to you. russ

Ello.

You are quite right, they are 13cm as I've just recently checked them. Luckily I don't have to remove the panel - just the grill :)

As for the rears, they are 10cm. Am sure you can fit bigger ones, however I presume you might need a plastic converter so it sits down from it. Do they exist?

Am guessing component speakers come with some sort of amp device hence their price?

I didn't want to spend too much - just enough to get the maximum out of my head unit.

components come with a crossover. which basically splits the signal so that all high frequencys go to the tweeter and all mids to the woofer. it may be possible to fit 13s in the rear by making an mdf spacer (Will be better than the plastic crap u can buy)

u might wanna check out car audio security, ive used them a few times, theyre very good and prices r excelent
