ICE help...

  Mini Cooper S sport
Can anyone recommend a decent ICE installer in Hampshire, or does anyone on here do it?

Need my Meg system sorting out, it's crap. Had all sorts of different advice on what to do, from amping the speakers to replacing the current ones, to replacing the current HU. I am now as confused as hell on what to do. Really I want to keep the Renault headunit because it works best with the car and I dislike 99% of aftermarket headunits.

Thing is, I can't do it myself and don't know what the best thing to do is!

HELP.

Have you tried registering on Talk Audio and asking there???

Without knowing what you currently have fitted, or what your trying to achieve, I can't offer any advice other than as above....

You could try visiting a few local meets and grabbing a listen to a few different setups, this will help in your decision making & allow you to talk to audio minded people face to face about any ideas you may have regarding your own setup.....

Could be...?

The system is 100% standard at the moment, I've not changed anything.

Basically the HU is very low-powered, so I just want it to have a richer sound, and not distort when you turn it up a bit!

Thanks for the replies so far, might register on those forums :)

regardless of whether you dont wanna replace the hu you wont get a massive amount of better sound quality, replacing the speakers will just do the most of what its got. replacing the hu will provide a much better sound quality and higher output, the next step would then be to replace the speakers

Yeah it's beginning to look like that's what I'll have to do..

I hate aftermarket headunits *cry*

Finding one which a) I like and b) works with the Meg display and stalk controls is going to be impossible

I don't want one with a volume knob. This is about the only one I like, but it won't work with the Meg's display.

the lead to make the display work is 60 quid but it only works for sony, thats an mes one, alpine do their own (£90) but i dunno whether any other brands do

You'll have to change the headunit, i'd recommend an alpine as their stalk adapter (£50) for it works really well. I've got a 9887R in mine and it matches the dash pretty well imo, and the display/stalk works really well tells you loads of things. I'll get some pics later if you want?

As for cheapers get some Pioneer TS-Q131C these are a direct replacement for the fronts and will be fine driven off and aftermarket headunit with a decentish amp in it, rears just change for some uprated coxials if your bothered about it.

Thats the cheapest, easiest, no faffing about method of improving the sound.
