Ice Install - Interior out job..

Well I just got finished installing my new sat nav system (although technically its not finished)

The amount of cables !!! crazy !!

Headunit with a few cables including the main system cable which goes to the control box with all the connections (mounted in the boot) so all the speaker cables, power, acc power, aerial etc. had to be re-routed to the rear of the car then the sat nav and cd changer had to go in, combined with the inverter for the xbox, and the xbox.. and I still have to put the sub and amp in .. argh !! to much.. !

anyway there was no danger of getting all the cables down the side of the car, so it had to be an under the carpet job.. easy i thought.. NO !

To cut a long story short it was a passenger seat out, rear seat out, carpet and soundproofing up. Its a little disconcerting stripping the interior out of a nearly new car, and the thought of an airbag going off in my face wasnt ideal.

Anyway if you are attempting to remove your interior I will be able to help on that front. Unfortunatly I didnt photograph and document it all otherwise I could have written a guide. I also managed to remove the old CD changer while I was at it... next step is the boot build.

Ye its not bad at all .. got me all the way to York and back.

next is the tv tuner and reversing camera which activates when you put it into reverse.. well smart.

where u getting the reversing camera from mate? is it a proper car one or just somet ur making urself?
Coz i know someone that would love one of those!

Ebay probably.. but will need to see about getting it fitted properly, dont know where its going to go yet.. rear bumper, parcel shelf pointing down or maybe even a light cluster cause they are really small.

heh got a friend of a friend that has a rx7, he bought 2 little cameras 1 which he mounted in the front, just in his front bumper, and the other in his rear, and he recorded as he drove, made a little switch so that he could flick between front and rear camera recording, then he would go out for races film from the front as he approached, then as the race started flicked to the rear so u could see him loose people

not great quality but what do u expect from a camera that is like 1" square lol.

I actually thought about mounting the camera in the front, just so I could switch to it and see me driving along with a low to the ground look heh.

The camera I was gonna purchase also has IR emittors so can see in the dark (up to a certain range) could scare some folk driving along a country lane at 60mph with no lights on lol..

What a f**king great idea!! You gotta put a cam on the front bumper!
