Depends on the price range but to be honest the amount of BHP you will get will be between around 0 and 1 you will lose more power than you gain.

For a 1.2 its a waste of money if youw ant the sound buy a £60 K&N or the Argos one above lol, if your just looking for a sound when you rev your engine look at getting a BackBox

Waist of time 'tuning' a 1.2 but if he really cant get this idea out of his head tell him to make it lighter by stripping bits out like the spare wheel etc

I have a mate who was a viper on a 1.2 8v engine in a mk2 ph1 car. He managed to get his cheap (don't ask, can't be done again) as a proper kit and it does sound nice. The trouble is that it will sometimes make a bit of unwanted noise on the motorway cruise because you don't have a lot of power to play with and then engine stresses even at cruise.
But apart from that, easy to fit and a well worthwhile mod. Never expect any power gains from an induction kit. It just doesent really happen, although the car may seem a little more responsive. Whatever you do, don't go for a cone filter that is going to suck warm air. great noise, for great power loss
Sorry if any of that is teaching to suck eggs!
