Idle problem 1.4

Hi people, I have a problem with my 1.4 16v 53 megane, it cuts out sometime at idle eg. when I start the car, when I stop at junctions and it seems to be getting worse. Is there a cure for this? It has had new coils, so it cannot be them. I have read that the software might need updating, or the throttle body needs cleaning?

has anyone had this problem and how did you cure it?

thanks

Has it had all 4 new coils? Needs 4 ideally these may aswell be made of chocolate

53 plate, have you got any warranty left? If so get it there before it runs out tell them to sort it.

Sounds like your throttle body is sticking. Give it a clean see if it helps.

Can be a bit tight on those. Turn ignition off. Remove your airbox (1X10mm, 1 rubber band) pull that off. Remove your air filter (2XT20s) best with a stumpy screwdriver for those. Get a torch and you'll see 2X10mm bolts at the back, and 1 on the top, remove those. Then you'll have to fight it a bit to get it off as it sticks on the rubber seal, best to grease that before you put it back on. Give it a good clean with some brake cleaner and bit of rag.

If your not confident I'd get a garage to do it.

Edit - While you've got the tools out, clean your plugs. Check your air filter too.

I took the filter off, but the megane must be a bit different to a clio, I could not see the 2X10mm bolts at the back of it.

thanks for your help.
