If i get hit by someone who is uninsured ?

  AMV8, Mk1 Golf
o dear whats happened.
basicly its as if you have crased your car yourself.
its up to you/police to recover the costs as far as i am aware

  Shed.
nothing. i just hope it doesnt happen. just curious.

I mean, if they run into me, as in, its their fault. Not mine. I havent odne anything wrong. Its nice to know that because someone has rammed into me ill have to find the cost for repairs.

yes you would have to front the repair bill yourself or go through your insurance company as im guesing an uninsured driver wouldnt offer to pay from thier own pocket

It's not just "uninsured" drivers as such mate.. Take some people on this forum for example who boast about adding mods and not declaring them. If they hit you their insurance is null and void so you'll end up paying in that scenario too.

If you're insured with Direct Line, and you are hit by an uninsured driver, you will not lose your no claims.

i'll guess iwill have to look at them then as they got me a good quote. just not good enough.

I’ve found that insurance is just a "thing" like road tax. You have to have it to be legal but if anything happens it still cost you money even if its not your fault.

I have in a claim where I was hit by a old man (who used to be a high ranking police officer) I have two separate witnesses but the old man is disputing there statements basically out of pure arrogance.

The claim is still not settled even tho it happened in January. I’m £350 out of pocket due to my xs and as its not resolved I’ve lost my 4ync and am playing double on my current insurance than what I would be paying it would have been resolved on the day.

Thought of putting CCTV in my car so if it happens again I have vid evidence!!

I may get the above money back but it’s still a piss take.

You just have to be realy lucky whilst driving I think, and thats why now I can see why older people don't like young drivers. and visa versa old people are dangerous too. I hink in a way the perfect driver is either a man or woman who are sensible from the ages of 35-60

also - thers a fund that everone who pays 4 insurance pays into, it covers people when hit by uninsured drivers, takes some time to get money out of, but u can do it.

They will pay out for the 3rd party but not for your car.

the reaction speeds of 55-65 year olds are the same as those of an 18year old with 3 pints in his/her blood stream.

just a bit of interesting info i was shown a week or two ago.

my grandad,73 drives so curtiously, it is dangerous cos he slows down to be nice but nearly makes someone behind him crash, also drives way to close to the kerb, brother took him out once in his car was a fast un dunno what, just know it wernt his and was fast might have been a galant, never been back in his car since.

old people are the worst on the road imo. too slow, ridiculous reaction times and a general hazard to my car!

theres me thinkin he had a story to tell us:( lol j/k glad it was just a curiousity question

um ok :S not sure what you were sayin but it goes to show that someone can be as well meaning as they like and not be a t**t on the road, but at that age, they still have much much slower reactions if they or someone else makes a mistake.

hence IMO they should re test after a certain age.

my grandfather at the age of 80 used to drive at 40 through my local village, over speed bumps etc, not intoxicated etc etc, just un aware that his speed had travelled to that height.

do i have to claim on my insurance, and does that mean i will loose my no claims.

do you have legal cover, i did and didnt have to loose my no claims or claim from my insurance, the legal cover got a solicitor to claim from the motor insurers beareu (sp) and i just got my payout, it takes aaaages though

If it happened and you managed to get a reg plate and know what they looked like you could probably eventually follow it up with the police. But in msot cases they'll get rid of the car or it was stolen in the first place :(
